ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS

Growth and healing can be funny concepts. As a therapist and a fellow human, I believe that these are elements in life that we all seek to find across our lifetime, but don’t always know where to begin in initiating the journey. There are also times when we are resilient and well versed in growth, healing, or coping but become stuck or perhaps entangled in various ways. I view the therapy space as a place in which an individual can connect with a clinician in such a way that they feel safe, validated, and affirmed to begin or reroute their journey. I am a firm believer in the importance of authenticity and building genuine relationship as the foundation for creating the space to grow through the therapeutic process. I find that this naturally fosters a foundation of love and nonjudgement that aids folks in engaging in the exploration necessary to thrive through the hardships experienced in life.

While the adversities that we experience in life are vast, I typically work with clients experiencing excessive stress, difficult life transitions, caretaker burnout, complex trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I obtained my undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia and received a master’s degree from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary after serving several years in the US Army as an Intelligence Officer and a Blackhawk pilot. I enjoy working with adults and seniors from a multicultural lens with experience providing services to active duty service members, veterans, professionals, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC folks. Through this work, I have also been honored to walk alongside those working through navigating and exploring identities, experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety concerns, and support persons of service members and frontline workers. I employ trauma informed practices including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT and TFCBT) while teaching coping skills and mindfulness techniques along the way that help mitigate stress and ground us in the moment as we seek to acknowledge, understand, learn, grow, and thrive in difficult times.
