NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
I know what it’s like to feel lost and uncertain about your purpose in life and what direction to move in. I know what it’s like to experience hopelessness and feel a burning desire to live a more meaningful and balanced life. These are just a few of the reasons I became a therapist. Participating in my own therapy from a young age helped me understand I wanted to help others navigate these difficult feelings for a more fulfilling life.
I approach therapy as a process the client and therapist engage in together, developing a safe non-judgemental, working space for healing. My goal is to help empower my clients to try new behaviors, explore and develop new parts of self and make the changes to become the self-actualized individual they want to be. I want to help you improve self-awareness and develop meaningful change.
I use a combination of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, positive psychology, motivational interviewing and more to meet a client where they are, with an approach that works for them. My approach is direct for those who prefer and softer for those who need a lighter approach. I am a more direct person by nature, and I use humor with my clients. I love to laugh and find the absurdities and irony in situations, however I am also able and willing to go to those dark places with my clients.
I’ve worked in mental health for over 15 years and as a therapist since 2013 when I completed my Master’s in Counseling Psychology at WMU. Since then, I have been working with transition age youth (15-23 years) and adults with SUD and severe mental illness. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, personality concerns, mood disorders and psychosis disorders trauma and more.
I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time with my family. I enjoy excellent dark chocolate and good ice cream. Sometimes I enjoy cooking. I always enjoy eating. Music and laughter are a particularly important part of my life and are integral to my own self-care.
So how about it? Are you ready (or mostly ready) to do this therapy thing? I would be honored if you choose me to take this journey with you.
