Hello! I'm Jenn Ausbrooks (she/her), and I'm here to embark on a healing journey with you. I understand that healing isn't about having all the answers; it's about navigating the unknown and embracing the questions that arise. You are the expert in your life, and my role is to offer unwavering support and create a safe space for you to be your authentic self.
I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology and my master’s in clinical social work at Michigan State University. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship struggles, abuse/neglect, psychotic disorders, suicidality, and self-harm. I'm also deeply committed to supporting and being an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. My clinical experience has been cultivated by serving in several settings. Earlier in my career, I worked in a domestic violence shelter and a partial hospitalization program. Following my full licensure, I worked at an inpatient psychiatric hospital and psychiatric urgent care. I also have experience as a crisis stabilization therapist through community mental health. Each experience has enriched my ability to provide holistic support.
In my free time, I find joy in the company of my two pugs, exploring new places with friends and family, and tending to my ever-growing collection of plants. I have more books on my “to-be-read” shelf than humanly possible (but always looking for more!). I am always trying to learn and grow outside of my role as a therapist.
I became a therapist because I want to establish a space where therapy does not have to be intimidating. I want to help change narratives surrounding mental health that may have caused individuals to give up on treatment. Building rapport and getting to know my clients is something that I value incredibly, as so much of therapy can depend on feeling a genuine connection with the therapist guiding you. In therapy, I use a trauma-informed approach, a CBT and DBT framework, and a strength-based perspective to help each individual with their unique concerns.
I hope you start your journey in therapy with me!
