ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
Hello and welcome to Counseling Center of West Michigan!
I am a fully licensed social worker (LMSW) with a master's degree in social work and a bachelor's
degree of arts in photography, both from Grand Valley State University. I
began my social work career providing services to adults with intellectual and developmental
disabilities. I then worked in case management through multiple community mental health agencies.
As a therapist, I enjoy working primarily with children and adolescents. My passion for working with
children comes from many years of volunteering with local organizations, such as the Grand Rapids
Children's Museum. I also have spent time traveling internationally in programs focused on strengthening and preserving families. Because children process and
communicate their emotions differently than adults, they benefit from alternatives to traditional talk therapy. Play therapy provides a way for children to express themselves in comfortable and familiar ways. Since every person is different, I don't believe there is a one size fits all approach to therapy, but prefer to let the client lead so I can tailor each session to meet their unique needs.
