ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
My name is Kara Savage and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan. I was drawn to a career in counseling out of a passion to help others overcome the challenges of life and thrive despite their circumstances.
I earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University. I am certified in EMDR and I am currently pursuing certification in Focused Marital Therapy. I specialize in helping clients connect with the hope and healing that Jesus Christ offers us on earth.
In my work with clients I make it a priority to foster a trusting and judgment free environment. Creating a safe atmosphere for my clients is extremely important to me. Through empathy and active listening, my clients know they have truly been heard and understand their concerns are valid. Working closely with clients to problem-solve enables them to explore solutions that help guide them to growth and positive change. For my clients, who want to incorporate their Christian beliefs, I walk alongside them pointing them to Christ. I will bring in Biblical principles that can give my clients space to open up their wounds to Christ for healing.
As a therapist I use a variety of evidence-based practices to serve the needs of my clients such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) just to name a few.
My mission and purpose as a therapist is to support others through the highs and lows of life. I enjoy
working with couples in need of restoring their marriage, individuals who need support through a
challenging season, those who are struggling with anxiety and/or depression, and clients who have
experienced trauma.
