ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
My name is Kyle Courtright and I have been working in the counseling field since 2021. I am originally from Southern Indiana where I received my Master in Counseling from Indiana University of Bloomington. I moved to West Michigan the summer of 2024; I have high hopes for being new to Michigan and learning more about this wonderful state and the Grand Rapids Area.
A strong desire I hold as a counselor is to spread empathy and care to those who are feeling unheard, forgotten or left behind. Cultivating a caring and empathetic environment for my clients is my primary goal. I personally take great pride in being a force of good and healing for those who work with me. I love helping people build skills to solve their problems while also facilitating the unlimited growth all of us humans possess.
In my career, I have expanded my skill set in many ways. I enjoy working with emotion regulation and stress reduction. While in Indiana I counseled at a community mental health center. There I worked in both individual and group therapy settings specializing in anxiety, depression and traumatic experiences. I work with adults 18+ and have experience with a wide variety of ages. The modalities I primarily use are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). In addition to this, I enjoy using Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Existential Therapy.
The therapy process is a challenging process. Building a trusting relationship with your counselor is so important for the growth and healing expected from counseling. A trusted counselor is a good counselor, and I strive to be that for my clients.
