ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
Welcome! My name is Lyndsay Greenfield and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from Spring Arbor University in 2019 with my Masters in Social Work. Prior to my Masters program, I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University in 2015.
The trek to becoming a therapist has been a deeply personal venture for me. My experience with therapy as a child left me feeling more angry, isolated, and alone than I already felt given my life circumstances. I loathed therapists, but one day I had a revelation; I have the power to be who I needed when I was younger. What was it that I felt was missing from my experience? As time went on, I reached a realization. My experience lacked the most basic aspects: Connection, Safety, and Understanding.
One of the greatest predictors of therapeutic outcomes happens to be the therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a warm, calming, and safe space for my clients to express themselves without fear of judgment; a place where they feel understood and seen; and a place to find hope, encouragement, and determination.
My favorite quote is, “An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means it is going to launch you into something great. So just focus, and keep aiming”. As a result of my life experiences, professional practice, and education I have a unique way of understanding the challenges pulling you back, and have developed the skills to help you refine your focus and aim. Ultimately, healing will feel worse before it gets better. I want to help you shed the negative narratives you may have adopted so we can find the other side of the pain and grow into who you truly are.
In my five years of practice, I have come to enjoy a more holistic perspective. I enjoy walking lifes journey with you whether it is tackling current life struggles; bringing awareness to connections between coping mechanisms and past life experiences; improving communication; improving relationships; processing unresolved trauma; and so much more. My goal is to help you align your mind, body, and spirit to help you live your most authentic life. Even if right now that means just holding space with you.
I enjoy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, and a little bit of Solution Focused Therapy. However, I do not believe therapy is one size fits all and I pull from a variety of modalities based on my clients needs. We are all different, and I aim to work with my clients to find what techniques work best for them. Sometimes I don’t know the answer, but I am willing to keep working to find one if you are.
Outside of the office my passions include; being a mom, being a wife, my own personal growth, being out in nature, and finding a sense of peace in this chaotic world. Some of that peace is found in playing with my daughter, energy work, camping, kayaking, spending time with my husband, family, and friends, and sometimes just relaxing on the back porch.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. If I resonate with you, I would be honored to start walking this journey with you.
