ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
My story has inspired me to walk alongside those who are hurting and struggling to get past the obstacles that show up in their life. Life can be filled with beautiful and joyous moments, yet, it can also be filled with devastating moments that are difficult to navigate. It is my honor to journey alongside you through all of life's seasons; to celebrate with you through your successes and to help you navigate through the obstacles.
Counseling is a vulnerable experience that can be intimidating and difficult. It is important that I, as your counselor, provide you with a safe, supportive, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment that will allow you to feel comfortable and allow for trust to be developed. As your counselor, I will be present and meet you where you are at. I recognize that you are the expert of your life, and together, we will collaborate on creating value-driven goals that are important to you. We will work together to identify ways to effectively move you closer to achieving those goals and living the life you desire to live.
My approach to counseling is continually evolving with a trauma-informed lens and is ultimately tailored by my clients' needs, beliefs, and values. My approach integrates exploring the connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while challenging the negative thoughts (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), identifying ways to accept oneself and regulate emotions (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), discovering solutions to problematic and distressing situations (Solution-Focused Therapy), and slowing down enough to "be" rather than just "do" (Mindfulness). Upon requests, I am able to integrate aspects of the Christian faith into the counseling process.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time outdoors either kayaking or hiking and spending quality time with family and close friends. I enjoy spending summer days at the lake and taking long walks through Millennium Park in Grand Rapids. And in the winter, I love cozying up next to a warm fire, a blanket, and a cup of hot chocolate.
