Shandra Stewart, LLMSW holds a master's degree in social work-macro from Western Michigan University. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Human Service from Baker College. Specializing in treating substance abuse disorders, administering cognitive behavior therapy, reality therapy, grounding techniques and mindfulness, Shandra prides herself in exhibiting empathy, honesty, inclusivity, diversity and building relationships built on trust through identifying your personal interest. My approach to treating anxiety is typically by using mindfulness and breathing techniques. My approach to treating depression is utilizing reality therapy and motivational interviewing.
She previously worked as a certified Community Health Worker working in public health assisting individuals with chronic health conditions that acted as a barrier which enabled them from obtaining access to community resources such as housing, transportation, food, etc.
Shandra prides herself in being an effective leader and possesses the ability and training to resolve disagreements where she earned a certificate to conduct Crucial Conversations. Another credit to her name includes becoming a certified SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery (SOAR) practitioner from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration that focuses on securing SSI/SSDI benefits for clients who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. She is also certified in, Mental Health First Aid- provides initial help to people experiencing mental health problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis and substance use disorders, QPR (Question, Persuade and Refer) Gatekeeper educated on how to assess suicide and ways to possible prevent any harm.
