We all face change. Life changes and personal growth are inevitable, and sometimes can be overwhelming and difficult to navigate. A lack of change or growth can cause us to feel unhappy with ourselves. Whether you are struggling with adapting to changes in life or are feeling stuck and are looking for change, we can work collaboratively to address your struggles. My approach is to meet you wherever you are (emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or physically) and help you set goals (at your pace) that you want to accomplish in therapy. My goal is to offer you a laid-back, safe place for you to process your challenges, to feel supported, and to build confidence in your ability to initiate that desired change; or face those scary, inevitable changes.
I received my Master of Social Work from Grand Valley State University. My experience has been focused on working with children, adolescents, and families in residential, school and home-based, and inpatient mental health treatment settings. I have a background in working with mild to severe mental health issues including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation/self-harm, perinatal/postpartum issues, bipolar and related mood disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, stress management, life transitions, grief and loss, and co-occurring disorders.
Therapeutic approaches I commonly utilize are Motivational Interviewing, Brief-Solution Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills, and Mindfulness Practices.
