Welcome! I am glad you found the Counseling Center of West Michigan. This is where it starts. My goal for every session is to create an open and welcoming environment where you will feel relaxed and are able to process openly. Therapy will be a space where you learn more about YOU and learn how to take care of YOU.
Now let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a masters level social worker and I have 14 years of master level experience. Prior to being a clinical therapist, I worked in an intensive outpatient program for mental health. Working there has taught me about the various mental health disorders and the symptoms of the disorders. I have worked with psychiatrists for many years where I learned about the brain chemistry and how anxiety and depression affect the brain. I am also knowledgeable in psychiatric medications from my years of working in the intensive outpatient programs and at the Psychiatric Access Clinic at the Northeast Clinic. I am a PMAD (Perinatal Mood Anxiety Disorder) trained therapist. This means I specialize in working with new moms dealing with PMAD, which was previously known as postpartum.
The clients I see range in age from 16 to 65 years old. I see clients who have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PMAD, and Bipolar Disorder. I also see people who are in crisis, have a history of trauma, are dealing with grief and loss, substance abuse/recovery, and going through life transition, such as the transitioning from high school to college or college to “adulting.”
Your time with me will focus on your needs and how to manage the obstacles you are dealing with. So take that step of courage and come see me. I look forward to meeting you.
