Thank you for taking a little time to look at my biography.
I have over 35 years experience working with children and families. I have extensive experience in adoption issues, foster care, family stress and family support. I enjoy working with children to improve their ability to self regulate and understand their thoughts, feelings, and actions to improve their functioning to they can feel confident and successful in school, the community, and in the home.
I have a background in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and use a Cognitive Behavioral approach within a play therapy model when working with children. I can provide family therapy and will work with parents to enhance their parenting skills and understanding the needs of their child(ren).
I graduated from Michigan State University in 1988 with a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work. I have worked in non profit agencies over the years. My work included managing direct service and supervision of clinical programs including; Hospice, Foster Care, Juvenile Justice, Behavioral Health, school based counseling, and family support programs.
My focus is on building a trusting relationship with children and their parents using interventions that are common sense and assist with change. Many parents are frustrated and traumatized in managing children who are having difficulties, and they need support and information to take care of themselves as well as their children. I am dedicated to helping parents feel good about their children and their parenting skills so they can function at their best and feel satisfaction in their family life. My goal is to help children to be happy and successful and have good self esteem.
I provide flexible scheduling for after school appointments and Saturdays are also available. I am able to provide home visits if needed.
