While many things are common to the human experience, I believe that your story is unique to you and that you are on your own unique journey, which only you can direct. My path to becoming a professional counselor began in my early 20’s as I observed several people in my family and social circle stuck in struggles with addiction, depression, anxiety, and trauma. This became the problem in the world that mattered to me, and my goal ever since has been to contribute to the recovery of hurting and broken lives.

While we all experience brokenness on some level at some point in our lives, you are here because you’re looking for assistance, and you don’t want to go on your journey of recovery alone. I believe you’re doing the best that you can at this time with the skills you currently have. I seek to help individuals explore the patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior that are not working for them and to build new, healthier patterns through motivation and skill building. Because your experiences and desires are unique to you, I don’t pretend to have the answers or to know what you should do, but I’d be happy to walk alongside you and explore what recovery and healing look like for you.

I earned a B.A. in counseling from Grace College and Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, and a M.A. in counseling from Spring Arbor University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My formalized training is in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am experienced in serving children, teens, adults, and families in various levels of care with issues including mood disorders, adjustments, parenting problems, spirituality, relational trouble, and trauma.

Personally, I am a husband and father. I love the outdoors and rooting for the hopeless Detroit Lions. I am a Christian who believes that all people are deserving of respect, love, and living a fulfilling life regardless of their faith, race, gender, or sexual orientation.
