Life can bring us unexpected challenges. Whatever challenges we are facing, I believe within each of us lies the capacity to face challenges and move into a life we feel is worth living, despite life’s inevitable challenges. My role as a therapist is to partner with my clients as they move from a place of just surviving to thriving. I strive to create a comfortable atmosphere where clients can be themselves without judgement.

A fully licensed Master Social Worker, I hold additional certification in Advanced Drug & Alcohol Counseling. I am comfortable working with most mental health and substance use disorders, including mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, trauma disorders, and thought disorders. My experience includes serving transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, as well as those questioning or exploring their sexual orientation. I also have experience with individuals facing mental health concerns related to chronic health conditions. I primarily serve older adolescents and adults, and especially enjoy working with young adults and young professionals.

I utilize a person-centered approach, tailoring each client’s treatment plan to their unique needs, strengths, and preferences. My eclectic therapeutic approach leans heavily on third-wave cognitive theories: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy with extensive training in the use of Motivational Interviewing for individuals with substance use disorders.

Prior to my work at Counseling Center of West Michigan, I worked with individuals in outpatient, community mental health, and medical settings. I have also served as a Clinical Supervisor and have provided supervision for intern social workers and newly licensed social work professionals and enjoy providing therapy services for other helping professionals who find themselves in need of additional support.

Outside of the therapy office, I enjoy spending time in nature, traveling, thrift-store shopping, and practicing yoga. During my downtime, I am often found out in the woods, or curled up with a good book with my dog by my side.

I look forward to partnering with you, if you have any additional questions not answered here, please feel free to reach out to me!
