Robert started in the field of mental health treatment in 1989. He has worked at Wedgwood Christian Services as both a program supervisor of their residential addiction treatment program, and as a therapist. Robert worked as an outpatient therapist for 10 years at Pine Rest. Robert’s specialties are substance abuse treatment, Co-occurring disorders, Depression, Anxiety, Grief and loss, and helping those recovering from trauma and chronic illness. He also conducts relational and marriage counseling.
Robert’s undergraduate degree is in Family Studies from Spring Arbor University. He is a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE), through the National Council on Family Relations. He earned his Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology through Western Michigan University, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. In addition, he attended Western Michigan University’s Graduate College of Health and Human Services Specialty Program for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, earning a Graduate Certificate in drug and alcohol abuse treatment. He is an Internationally Certified Advanced Addictions Counselor (ICRC). He has post graduate training in Motivational Counseling, CBT, DBT, and EMDR.
