ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
Hello! My name is Thomas Kantola, I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan and I’m passionate about helping others and working with people to move to a place of healing. Going to therapy can feel intimidating and even awkward at first and I believe that it takes courage to make that step, no matter what you’re seeking help with. My focus in therapy is first on hearing your story and getting to know you more. I believe that having a place where you feel comfortable and safe is foundational to the therapeutic journey. In order to get to know me better I’ve included some information about myself here.
I was born and raised in West Michigan and graduated from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary in 2019 with a Masters in Counseling. Afterwards, I moved out west for several years until recently returning to the West Michigan area to bring my passion and knowledge of mental health back to help my home community. During my time as a therapist, I have been able to work with some amazing people on a wide variety of issues. This includes Anger management, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Relationship difficulties, Stress, Trauma to name a few. My own style of therapy largely focuses on the use of CBT and Person-Centered approaches but also depends on the goals of the therapy and the client’s preference.
When I’m not in the office I often am outdoors with my two dogs. I enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, and getting outside in Michigan’s beautiful scenery.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page. I hope it was able to tell you more about myself, and I
look forward to the chance to work together towards your goals for your mental health.
