NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS

Hello and Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction. I want to start by saying I admire you for having the courage to start this journey. It can be difficult to make the decision to start therapy. I believe that this decision comes from a place of inner strength with a desire to grow and improve.

I have over 20 years of experience working as a Masters Level Social Worker with people from all walks of life, diverse backgrounds, and life experiences. I have over 10 years of experience specifically providing outpatient therapy and crisis intervention in the Mental Health field. I completed my Masters Degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University in 2001. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Human Development and Social Relations from Kalamazoo College. My training and experience, specific to Outpatient Therapy, is strongly rooted in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). I was fortunate to receive my CBT training through the Beck Institute. In addition to CBT, I have experience and training using the following evidence based models:  Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT),  Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Motivational Interviewing. I also like to incorporate a variety of mindfulness techniques.

My philosophy is that you are the expert in your life. You know yourself and what you need better than anyone. My job is to meet you where you are at to help you realize your personal goals and potential. One of the philosophies that I admire about DBT is that the therapeutic relationship is a real relationship between equals. I also believe in creating a safe place to talk about difficult topics without judgement.

I look forward to meeting you.
