Welcome! My name is Aubrey Welniak. I am a licensed Master of Social Work, and I have been
practicing in the human and social services field for 7 years, where 3 of those 7 years have been
dedicated strictly towards counseling and therapy. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Developmental Psychology from Aquinas College in 2016. I went on to earn my Masters in
Social Work, specializing in trauma and interpersonal practice at Western Michigan University in 2019.
Throughout my career, I have worked with a variety of populations. I started my career in social work, as a family reunification worker, working to reunite children with their parents after leaving foster care. While in graduate school, I worked with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, as well as worked with children exposed to domestic violence. Proceeding graduate school, I offered trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy to children and adolescents. More recently, I have been offering my clinical support and advocacy to young and older adults struggling with medical and behavioral health concerns.
I believe that you know yourself best and are the expert of your life. I am here to listen empathetically, empower, support, and provide guidance, as you work to meet your mental health needs. Therefore, my approach to treatment is very strength-based and person-centered, utilizing components from cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused treatment, and motivational interviewing. Much of my experience is working with those struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, and big life transitions.
I feel that good rapport is very important in the professional relationship between therapist and client. Therefore, I like to dedicate time to get to know each one of my clients and build that rapport, so they are comfortable sharing and trusting me to provide guidance and support while they work towards their mental health goals.
I look forward to meeting you and partnering with you on this journey!
