Barb McClurg, LMSW

Hello! I am glad you sought out the Counseling Center of West Michigan, and by pursuing therapy you are taking positive steps toward improving your mental health for a happier and healthier life.

I graduated from Calvin College (University) with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, and received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University. I have spent my career in medical social work as well as psychotherapy.

I am currently only scheduling women as I have a passion for women’s health issues. I have experience with midlife menopause, chronic/complex health issues including cancer, and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders. I have extensive experience with grief as well as depression, anxiety and panic disorders.

I utilize solution focused brief therapy, person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and motivational interviewing. I am also trained in EMDR, and would be happy to discuss how this treatment modality may be beneficial for you.

My goal is to meet you where you are today, and to create a warm and safe environment throughout therapy. My hope is this will enable you to grow, heal and thrive throughout your personal journey toward improved mental health.
