ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
Hello and welcome! My name is Barry, and I am a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor with a graduate degree in School Counseling from Western Michigan University. My undergraduate and graduate degrees are from Ferris State University in Criminal Justice. Prior to becoming a counselor, I had a career in law enforcement, which has provided me with a unique perspective when working with clients.
I work with individuals facing a wide range of challenges—from adjusting to life changes and managing internal struggles such as depression and anxiety, to healing from major trauma. My clients typically range from young adolescents to young adults, and I am passionate about helping them navigate these transitions with compassion and understanding.
In my practice, I employ a variety of therapeutic techniques, tailoring my approach to each individual’s unique needs. My theoretical framework is primarily based on Solution-Focused Therapy, which is a goal-directed, collaborative method that emphasizes clients' strengths and skills in managing life’s challenges. Additionally, I use Interpersonal Therapy to help clients improve relationships and better cope with stress, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps clients develop effective problem-solving strategies, regulate their emotions, and think more positively.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you in your journey towards personal growth and healing.
