Hello and welcome. I’m honored you are considering working with me. Finding the right therapist can sometimes be stressful so please reach out to me with any questions you may have or if there is anything I can do to help you with your decision. I look forward to meeting you and learning what is important to you.
Here's a little about me and my practice. I recently moved back home to West Michigan. It feels good to be here. I am a clinical social worker fully licensed through the State of Michigan and registered play therapist credentialed through the Association for Play Therapy. I draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Self-Compassion, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Attachment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems in my work with clients.
I strive to provide care that focuses on developing a greater capacity for self-compassion within my clients and increasing self-awareness to nurture and strengthen the healing process. While working to establish this foundation, I collaborate with clients to discover effective, personalized interventions. I am experienced at working with a range of presenting concerns including ADHD, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, issues related to trauma, and life transitions.
I received my Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Michigan in 2015, where I was a Detroit Clinical Scholar. Shortly after graduating from U-M, I worked for Easterseals of Flint where I provided home-based care for children in Flint and the surrounding areas. In 2020, I began work with the Ann Arbor DBT Center where I developed a concrete understanding of the structure and benefits of DBT therapy, working with both individuals and groups. I have also worked with children, teens and adults through my previous private practice in Ann Arbor. My varied experiences include working with adjudicated youth, providing bereavement support to children, serving children with severe emotional impairment and their families both in an office setting and in a home-based capacity, and working with clients who want to implement new coping skills after inpatient hospitalizations.
I believe my experience as a play therapist and extensive DBT training provide me with a unique perspective when working with clients. I have seen how play allows clients of all ages to grow and explore what they are struggling with, while incorporating DBT provides a solution-focused approach to problems. Clients tell me they appreciate that I meet them where they are, follow their lead in sessions and recommend therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual, as well as suggest resources for them to consider. Within my work, I affirm individuals of all races, ethnicities, religious, sexual orientations and gender identities.
My favorite activities outside of work include spending time with my family as well as reading, gardening and walking my two greyhounds.
