My friends would describe me as empathetic, witty and motivated….
My name is Elizabeth Dunnuck and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my graduate degree from Western Michigan University in 2014. I believe that every person has a unique story, and your story and experiences are important. Your distinct experiences shape your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. By challenging our old ways of thinking and creating new thoughts - new feelings and behaviors can help us refocus and reshape our future. When my clients invite it, I offer a space for exploring your experiences and how they may be negatively or positively impacting your day to day.
I tend to lean into balancing both spending time listening to things that are on one's mind and providing practical tools to assist with decreasing stress. I am both person and solution focused in my therapeutic relationship. My hope is that my clients are empowered in their own ability to change and move towards a place where they feel balanced.
At this time I enjoy working with individuals and parents (single or joint). I have worked with my clients to address life transitions, anxiety, depression, divorce recovery, spiritual abuse, women’s issues, parent-child relationships, helping parents navigate when children have challenging behavior, phobias, identity formation, work stress, relationship issues, negative self-talk, grief and loss. I currently work with individuals 18 and older.
I am a transplant from the Lansing area and find the most peace on the shores of Lake Michigan. I have lived experience with grief and loss that has allowed me to offer an empathetic ear. I tell clients, "I'm willing to go to the dark places with you, if that is what you need". I believe this to be a strength of mine and take pride in my ability to be a safe place for people. This lived experience has also allowed me to have a unique sense of humor and I find I lean into humor often within the therapeutic relationship.
In my spare time I enjoy time with my family. I like listening to audiobooks, music and watching TV. I am also an avid board game player and collector.
