Laura James, LMSW

Hello, I am Laura James. I graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2018 with my Masters in Social Work. My undergraduate is in Social Work from Grand Valley State University as well. I have worked in community mental health for almost five years, working mainly in the urban areas. Most of that time I have spent working with Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. 

Within the past two years, I have been mainly working with adults, who live with severe and persistent mental illness, such as Bi-polar Disorder and Schizophrenia. I have studied CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), CPT (cognitive processing therapy), Motivational Interviewing and strengths based approaches. I am currently working on my Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certificate and my Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist Certificate. 

I have experience working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, loss and self-esteem. I am honored to be given the opportunity to walk alongside clients on their journey to wellness. I strive for a comfortable and safe environment for clients.
