Hello, thank you for choosing Counseling Centers of West Michigan. My name is Meredith Smillie and I have spent the bulk of my social work career serving children and families within the child welfare system. I am passionate about all family members having strong and healthy family connections. I have experience working with children of all ages, adolescents and adults.
I completed my undergraduate studies at Western Michigan University in Family Studies in 1995 and my Master of Social Work degree at Grand Valley State University in 2000. I have been active in the Muskegon County area coaching girls volleyball for 25 years and an active part of the Muskegon
Rotary Club for 7 years.
I firmly believe that all people could benefit from mental health treatment and am encouraged that you are advocating for your own wellbeing. Some client concerns include those struggling with: depression, anxiety, trauma, life changes, parenting stressors, adoption, stress management, grief, loss, sexuality, self-care concerns, and other life disruptions. I use a variety of techniques that are tailored to your specific needs; but include trauma informed techniques, motivational interviewing and play therapy for children.
I look forward to walking with you on your journey to healing.
