ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS
Psychology and Counseling professor Jonathan Hoover, in his book Stress Fracture, describes the experience of counseling as “sitting across from someone who has been trained to listen to your experience, care about what you are going through, help you process that experience, and help you decide what you want to do next and how you want to do it.” I hope to be able to communicate this as a counselor while supporting you as a client in and through your current life circumstances. It is a privilege to be called upon to accompany individuals on their mental health journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to walk with you.
I graduated with my Master’s degree from Cornerstone University in 2023 and have been working in private practice ever since. I began pursuing a career in mental health counseling because of my own experience as a client while working through significant loss as a teenager. While my background is spiritually based, my client-centered approach helps me to meet clients where they are, whether or not that is spiritually related. My primary specialty is grief and loss in their various forms, while I also take a particular interest in helping clients navigate life transitions and identity concerns.
As a person-centered therapist, I tend to be non-directive (i.e., laid back) in my approach, though I can adapt to be more directive if circumstances or preferences warrant.
When I am not doing counseling-related things, I enjoy eating out, reading, watching professional basketball and baseball, writing, listening to 1930s jazz, putting up with my sister’s wild but loveable dogs, and engaging with my first love of roller coasters and theme parks.
